Burns Supper Evening

27th January 2018

Burns SupperThe Rotary Club of Wirksworth held its annual Burns Supper and Ceilidh on Saturday 27th January in Alderwasley Village Hall. It was a really enjoyable evening and we would like to thank all those who helped to make it such a great success.

Special mention and thanks go to Chris and Elizabeth Bunting, Pam Fraser and Heather Cassidy, as well as for the help we had from Robert and Celia from Alderwasley. Audrey and Jane did a great job running the raffle from which we raised over £150. Thanks also to our entertaining speakers: John Dolan who gave the Selkirk Grace, Malcolm Kelly for his wonderful address to the Haggis, Ken Macarthur who made a humorous Toast to the Lassies and Kath Bishell with her thought-provoking response on behalf of the women.

It was good to welcome back the Ceilidh band Speed the Plough who as usual entertained us with fine music and helped us to work off some of delicious haggis and puddings!

In total the evening made over £700 for Aquabox and International projects of the Wirksworth Rotary Club.
