Right Revd. Libby Lane, Bishop of Derby, helps make a water filter.

It’s not every day our volunteers get to show off their skills to a Bishop, but last week the Right Revd. Libby Lane, Bishop of Derby, visited Aquabox to hear all about our life saving work. During the production room tour, Bishop Libby could not help but get hands on with the process, helping our volunteer Tony Brennan making a family filter. The whole team was very impressed and thought we had another production champion in the making.

Bishop Libby was joined by: Revd. Neil Griffiths, Team Rector, Revd. Rod Prince, Associate Priest and Revd. Nicholas Radford-Powell, Assistant Curate, all from Wirksworth Team Ministry.

Bishop Libby said, “What a tremendous pleasure to witness the work of Aquabox. Who would have thought that from the historic Derbyshire market town of Wirksworth, hundreds of thousands of lives have been saved across the world by a simple, hand pumped, water filter”.

Roger Cassidy commented, “It was great to see Bishop Libby’s enthusiasm for the filter assembly operations and box packing, we were so thrilled to show our visitors around the depot and explain what our amazing volunteers have achieved over the last 32 years.”
