Our local MP John Whitby is a great supporter of Derbyshire Charities and has visited the Aquabox depot, it was great to see John again last week at the safe swimming event at The New Bath Hotel.
In Partnership with Derbyshire-based charity Bluetonic. The historic lido at the hotel in Matlock Bath, Derbyshire hosted a free evening open water safety sessions for local children.
Sean White the new General Manager at The New Bath Hotel, said, “It is very important to teach children safety when swimming in any water but partially in open water.”, Sean added, “it was also a great opportunity for local charity Aquabox to demonstrate their life saving water filters to visitors.”
John Whitby said, “It’s always a pleasure to catch up with Aquabox, a volunteer-led charity and community project set up by the Rotary Club of Wirksworth dedicated to providing safe drinking water and humanitarian aid to people affected by natural disasters, extreme weather, and conflicts.
Over 70 volunteers give up their time to manufacture, assemble, test and pack the filters, which produce instantly safe, clean water for drinking, cooking and washing. With a quick simple daily back-flush process to get rid of accumulated contamination, they go on working year after year, helping hundreds of thousands of people.”
