Wirksworth Wizarding Day raises over £2,000 for Aquabox

20th October 2018

Wirksworth was transformed with imaginative displays in shop windows, weird and wonderful goods for sale, strange potions to drink, a double decker bus to ride and owls, snakes, lizards and spiders to handle!

wirksworth wizarding day

Huge crowds of people came to the town, with many dressed for the magical themed day. A lot of visitors to our Aquabox stall at the event had no idea it was based in Wirksworth, so it was a great opportunity to boost awareness.

Children responded enthusiastically to the chance to perform magic with the Aquabox filter, transforming murky water into sparkling clear water. Kevin Tromans, manager of the Wirksworth Co-op, spent most of the day assisting with this activity, along with members of his staff, and kindly provided the prize for the ‘guess the number of straws in the filter’ competition.

A huge thank you to Roz Adamson of the Rotary Club of Bakewell and all the Wirksworth club members, their families and friends who were involved in helping with the organisation, car parking, bus conducting, Aquabox activity and End Polio Campaign stall.

The financial result of this frantically busy day (and the weeks of preparation) was a fantastic donation of £2,000 for Aquabox, plus £75 raised at the Aquabox stall, with a bonus £20 for End Polio crocus corms.
