Concert for Ukraine, Water and Peace.

Congratulations to all the members of Rotary Colmar Bartholdi, France, for organizing two amazing concerts featuring 60 singers. They had prepared a unique and specific program for the occasion, in connection with the themes of Ukraine, water and peace.

The concert, benefiting Operation Aquabox for Ukraine, was a huge success and the beautiful Saint Martin College was packed.

Held on November 18th and 19th this concert of sacred and secular songs brought together two exceptional men’s choirs, Polycanto conducted by Arlette Steyer and Liederkranz conducted by Raphaël Braun and Ludovic Sutter.

All proceeds will fund Rotary’s Operation Aquabox, which provides water hyperfiltration kits to war-hit Ukrainian areas. Operation Aquabox was launched in spring 2022 by the Rotary club of Potsdam, which is twinned with the Colmar Bartholdi club.

The concert was filled with many emotions, especially when the two choirs came together to perform Ola Gjeilo’s Ubi Caritas; Haec est dies by Jacob Gallus; Stars by ecriks Ešenvalds and Ave Maria – Angelus Domini by Franz Biebl.

“We performed Craig Courtney’s Ukrainian Hallelujah for the first time,” Arlette Steyer said. “The moment was magical,” rejoiced Raphaël Braun.

The need for drinking water, more than one and a half years after the start of the war, is still very important. On site, the Ukrainian Rotary Clubs are in charge of distributing and setting up the Aquabox kits.
