Recent Aquabox Activities

18th August 2020

Although the Aquabox depot has been in lockdown for several months, with our volunteers unable to come in to assemble filters or pack our aid boxes, we have not been idle as the following 3 news items highlight.

Bay of Bengal

Aquabox aid in KolkataWe have received images of our aid which was sent out to the Bay of Bengal following Super Cyclone Amphan. The aid we sent was in two stages – an initial air shipment of water filters sent on 8th June and a subsequent sea shipment of our Gold Boxes. The picture shows the Aquaboxes ready for distribution through local Rotary Clubs from Kolkata.

Nepal

We have recently received this lovely message of thanks from a Nepali gentleman, one of many affected by recent mudslides. It speaks for itself!

“We are victim of flood a few days ago, here in Pokhara Nepal. We just received your emergancy relief box (aqua box) thru Rotary club Pokhara. So we are very happy and feeling blessful. So thanks a lot for your great job. Thank you again from our family.”

Yemen

Our 4th shipment in 2 years is scheduled to leave our depot on 20th August. This is part of a joint shipment of aid with our partners Jubilee Outreach Yorkshire and Water Survival Box. Our consignmemt comprises 250 Gold boxes.

Together these three activities will have provided the means to access safe drinking water for more than 4000 people.
