2024 is proving to be another busy year responding to a number of manmade and natural disasters across the world to Turkey, Syria, Yeman, Nepal and Ukriane.
UKRAINE
We followed an aid consignment in August with a second shipment in September, to eastern Ukraine, through our partnership with FireAid and Ukrainian Action “Team Devon”. The convoy crossed the Ukrainian border two weeks after leaving the UK. We are now receiving thank you posts back from the Ukrainian bases volunteers. The attached video from Ukrainian Action CEO Jeff Hartman, who is in Kiev overseeing the aid distribution, shows how gratefully our aid is being received on the ground.
NEPAL
Later in August we received the welcomed news that a large shipment of aid, sent through the Gurkhas had safely arrived in Kathmandu Nepal. This aid was immediately deployed to provide relief to victims of the floods and landslides in Thame province. This week we have sent a further consignment of Aid Boxes, Family and Community.
In the forthcoming 3 months we are planning shipments to
Lebanon – we are finalising our first shipment to Beirut of Aid Boxes, family and community filters by the end of the month.
Nepal – we hope to send out an emergency response consignment by airfreight to support the relief efforts following the recent floods that hit southern Nepal.
Thailand – following recent floods and landslides caused by the typhoon that hit the region we are working with our partners in the country to support their disaster relief responses.
Ukraine – providing further support to communities in the east of the country whose utility infrastructure has been destroyed during the conflict.
Ghana – we plan to provide water filters through a Yorkshire based charity Ghana Outlook, who are working with rural communities to provide access to safe water for cooking, washing and drinking.
None of these Aquabox activities and responses would be possible without the generous donations we receive from our fantastic supporters.
