Visit the Depot
Aquabox is a vibrant community project with over 70 volunteers, who come to our depot in the heart of the beautiful Peak District each week to assemble and test the family filters and then pack them into the blue Aquaboxes, along with over 70 items of humanitarian aid, in preparation for the next natural or man-made disaster.
A visit to the depot really brings the Aquabox operation to life. Here you can watch the assembly teams assembling the water filters, before testing to ensure that they are fit for purpose. You can also marvel at the skills of the packing teams as they use their ingenuity to squeeze all the items of humanitarian aid and water filtration units into the Aqua-aid boxes and still manage to close the lid! If you fancy yourself as a good holiday packer, we’ll give you a chance to pack your own Aquabox!
Why not come to visit the Peak District for a day, and after spending an hour or so at the depot learning about Aquabox, you can retire to one of our excellent local hostelries or cafes before visiting one of the great attractions of the area, such as Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall, Wirksworth Ecclesbourne Valley Railway, Crich Tramway Village or Arkwright’s Mill at Cromford – the birthplace of the Industrial Revolution. It’s a great day out.
We are also able to arrange special visit for schools, scouts, guides and other young people’s groups. These events can be tailored to the group and provide some real educational messages around the life-giving value of water, and the challenges many communities face every day providing families and children with safe drinking water, particularly in the aftermath of a disaster. These events have proved to be very popular with young people, who can get involved by tackling a number of packing and water challenges in and around the depot.

How to find us
Our depot is located on a small industrial estate on the B5036 road from Cromford to Wirksworth. The address is Unit 10, The Hill, Cromford, Derbyshire, DE4 3QL. If travelling from Cromford, the entrance is on the right hand side just before the turning to Middleton at the top of the hill, or on the left hand side just after the turning to Middleton if coming from the Wirksworth direction. As you enter the industrial estate, you will see the Aquabox depot with the big blue doors on the left hand side.
We couldn’t do it without our partners
We’re proud of our historic relationship with Rotary members around the country. Their continued support has not
just increased our fund-raising opportunities, but allowed us to increase the awareness of Aquabox around the globe.
