Become an Aquabox Ambassador

We are always very keen to extend our activities by connecting with more people and organisations across the country, to build up our wonderful band of enthusiastic supporters and spread the word about what we do.

To achieve this goal we have developed a network of Aquabox Ambassadors, across the UK and abroad, to help Aquabox and spread the word about what we do. Through the Ambassadors network we have been able to:

  • Publicise the Aquabox project and its campaigns as widely as possible
  • Have knowledgeable Aquabox supporters available in locations across the UK, who are able to give talks to clubs and community groups in their area
  • Encourage and coordinate fundraising initiatives

The Ambassadors play a vital part in Aquabox’s work, and we are keen to extend the network to parts of the country where we don’t yet have representation. We have Ambassadors in place in Scotland, Lancashire and Cumbria, Yorkshire, Birmingham, the Midlands, and the Thames Valley, and are looking for more to join us.

New Ambassadors are given a comprehensive introduction to Aquabox, its history, its operations and its current projects. Each Ambassador is provided with an Aquabox demonstration unit, along with promotional and display material, and as much support as is needed when meeting new groups or giving talks.

If you’re interested in helping Aquabox, why not become an Aquabox Ambassador? It’s a great way to support the charity, and the life-saving work that we do. To find out more, please contact us and one of our trustees will be in touch.

Ambassador focus – David Sutherland

David has been an Aquabox ambassador for many years and below highlights just three events he has been involved with in 2024 so far.

David Sutherland at the D1090 Showcase

Feb 17th 2024

Our ambassador David Sutherland at the D1090 (Rotary Thames Valley district) Showcase on Saturday 17th February 2024 with some of the D1090 Ambassadorial scholars.

As you can see a family water demonstration was in full swing, one question from the scholars was how much does the family filter cost. David commented that at £35 each an Aqua 12 box (our box containing 12 family filters) costing £450 is a manageable fund-raising amount for a Rotary club and £35 for a filter can be managed by some individuals.

David Sutherland at Boulter's Lock Community Awareness Da

June 22nd 2024

Here I am on Sunday at the Boulter’s Lock (Maidenhead) Community Awareness Day. Several people took leaflets and promised to make a donation.

June 2024

U.K.’s longest paddleboard team endurance challenge.

Over two days in June this year Maidenhead Paddleboarders completed this challenge with over £800 raised for Aquabox.

Our thanks go to Phil, Gareth, Christian, Nick and Malcolm, all SUP Club members of Paddleboard Maidenhead successfully completed the Trent 100 Challenge. This is a team endurance event of 100km not a race and the team must stay together the entire paddle. The TRENT100 is the U.K.’s longest paddleboard team endurance challenge.

The guys who started at Great Hayward in Staffordshire and paddled 57 km on the first day and 43 km the next day, camping in between.  Phil said “We were all very chuffed with our team completing the challenge in a time of 14hrs 27 mins and were the 12th fastest team.

The team used this event as an opportunity to raise money for Aquabox, who provide safe drinking water and humanitarian aid to people affected by natural disasters, extreme weather and conflicts.

We couldn’t do it without our partners
